Wednesday 23rd June 1861 Chester lane London
Dear uncle Joseph
We hopped on a ship to New Zealand. The food was terrible here on board we had to eat soup and stew. It was very smelly and very dirty. We all had to go toilet in a bucket after a week I had to tip the bucket upside down over the edge of the ship.
When we got to New Zealand we had to find land. Once we found land we got animals and built our house it took nearly a mouth.
Me and my son went hunting to get dinner. while my wife is doing the washing later that afternoon I chopped some trees down for fire wood .
Are you still enjoying it in London?
Love Riley.
Kia ora Riley,
ReplyDeleteThis is quite a realistic letter - I can just imagine being on that dirty, smelly ship with terrible food! Next time check your punctuation really carefully before pushing publish.
